Brief
As Intrepid Studios developed Ashes of Creation, their highly anticipated role-playing game and battle arena, they wanted to offer customers a way to purchase membership-level upgrade packages and in-game cosmetics. At the same time, they wanted to refresh the website theme to better reflect their updated branding guidelines. Turnaround time was critical because the project began at the start of the North American holiday season.
Process
Intrepid Studios sought to merge existing e-commerce systems into a unified interface where users could track purchase history and game content. We developed specialized build tooling that generated custom PHP WordPress/WooCommerce code to support the new membership-style commerce system while preserving a brand-consistent visual theme.
Result
The end result enabled the client to enjoy an increase in daily recurring revenue through sales of packaged upgrades and in-game cosmetics. Our timely delivery strategically enabled the client to unveil these features in the critical 2017 holiday period. Simultaneously, we provided a branding refresh to their website to mimic the visual style of the Ashes of Creation game aesthetic, accomplishing the consistent desired theme with augmented content.
